Major Michael Wisotzkey is a native of Madisonville, Kentucky and commissioned into the Marine Corps as a Second Lieutenant in 2011 after graduating from the University of Louisville.
After attending The Basic School, he was designated a Combat Engineer Officer and reported to his first fleet assignment, 9th Engineer Support Battalion in Okinawa, Japan in March 2013. He served as a platoon commander and company executive officer, supporting a variety of engineer experimentation, bilateral multinational training evolutions and humanitarian assistance efforts across the Pacific. In 2014, he was selected to serve as the aide-de-camp to the Commanding General of 3d Marine Logistics Group.
In 2015, he reported to Recruiting Station Albuquerque to serve as the Officer Selection Officer in Lubbock, Texas. He was awarded the 8th Marine Corps District ‘Centurion Award’ at the conclusion of his tour for contracting over 100 applicants and commissioning 43 officers.
In 2018, he reported to Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, VA for resident professional military education. Following EWS, he served as a summer augment platoon commander for Officer Candidates School, class OCC-231.
Following OCS, he reported to 1st Combat Engineer Battalion aboard Camp Pendleton, CA and served as a Company Commander and Battalion Logistics Officer. Upon being selected for Major, he reported to 3d Marine Aircraft Wing aboard MCAS Miramar where he served in the G-3 as the Aviation Ground Support Planner and Deputy Plans Officer.
In July 2023, he reported to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to serve as the NROTC Executive Officer.
He is a graduate of Expeditionary Warfare School (resident) and Command and Staff College (non-resident) and holds a Master’s degree in Project Management from Missouri State University.
He is joined at RPI with his beautiful wife Samirah Lynne and their feisty chihuahua-mix Winnie.
