Lieutenant Colonel Jake L. Miller is the commander of the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps Detachment 550 and a Professor of Aerospace Studies at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York.  He is responsible for recruiting, training, and developing officer candidates for the United States Air Force, as well as for overseeing all policy and guidance matters pertaining to Air Force Spacial Warfare. Additionally, he is the Headquarters Air Force lead from Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems, Irregular Warfare, and Obstacle Courses.

Lieutenant Colonel Miller commissioned in 2000 from the United States Air Force Academy with a Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering and a Minor in French.  He earned a Master's of Military Art and Science from the Air University at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama.

Prior to this assignment, Lieutenant Colonel Miller was the Division Chief, Policy and Guidance, for Air Force Special Warfare, Headquarters Air Force, Pentagon.  He was also the Deputy Commander, 752nd Special Operations Group, Royal Air Force Mildenhall, United Kingdom, overseeing MC-130s, CV-22s, Special Tactics, and over 450 Airmen assigned to the mission.  He has served as an Inspector General, twice as a squadron commander, and has multiple deployments to Afghanistan, the Arabian Peninsula, North Africa, and Eastern and Northern Europe.
