
Lieutenant Kevin BonetLugo

LT BonetLugo was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico and raised in New York City. He graduated from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and attended Officer Candidate School in New Port, Rhode Island. Upon commissioning, he was designated a Student Naval Aviator and reported to Naval Air Station Pensacola for flight school. After his completion of Aviation Pre-flight Indoctrination (API), he completed Primary Flight Training in Corpus Christy, TX. LT BonetLugo was then selected to fly the MH-60R and upon earning his wings, he was stationed at Naval Station Mayport to complete the helicopter training syllabus at the Fleet Replacement Squadron, Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 40 (HSM-40). Upon completing training, LT BonetLugo began his assignment at Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 72 (HSM-72), based out of Naval Air Station Jacksonville.
LT BonetLugo qualified as a Helicopter Aircraft Commander and Functional Check Pilot, completing one deployments and numerous underways. While at HSM-72, he deployed to the 6th Fleet AOR aboard the USS Gravely and USS Harry S. Truman. His collateral duties included Safety Officer, Communications Officer, Admin Officer, Command 1st LT, Aviation Electrician’s mate Division Officer, Detachment Officer In Charge and Assistant Training Officer. LT BonetLugo reported to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on June 2024 and serves as a Lecturer of Naval Science.
